On one occasion the little Prophet Joseph had a dream which there are 11 months, 11 sun and 11 stars bowed down to him. He then told the dream to his father, Prophet Jacob and interpret the dream as a sign that the Prophet Joseph will becoming a great man in the future. Prophet Jacob also prohibits the Prophet Joseph for telling about his dream to his brothers, in fear there will be plots to destroy the Prophet Joseph.
Lessons learned from the piece of the story of Prophet Yusuf is the wisely decisive attitude. As the Prophet Joseph chose to tell about his dream to the right people, his father, and did not tell the dream to his brothers to avoid prejudice of those who envy. The point is that there are things that we can tell others what we believe, and there are things that do not need us to tell anyone. It is also necessary prudence in conveying everything because we do not know whether what we say will be responded well by others or just the opposite.
Another story of Prophet Yusuf is when his 10 brothers envy and jealous because they feel their father, Jacob loved Joseph and Bunyamin more, who is the heir of the same mother and brother. 10 Joseph’s brothers throw Joseph into the well with the hope to eliminate Prophet Joseph, not to kill him, and so that later Joseph can be collected by a passing traveler. It is clear, that the attitude of envy and jealousy encouraged fellow brothers to commit crimes against other siblings.
“Then who those in which there is envy? That is from (group) jinn and mankind. “(QS. Al-Falaq: 6) (page 37).
Once discharged, the Prophet Joseph discovered by the traveler who then sell him as a slave. Prophet Joseph then purchased and raised by a magnifying family who do not have children. He treated well since from adolescence to become an handsome adult male. Joseph’s handsomeness turns out to inviting a lot of problems. He started to be flirted by the Egyptian official’s wife that raised him. Prophet Joseph resist that temptation but this lady constantly teased him even more. Not only this lady, other women that are fascinated by the beauty of Prophet Yusuf also constantly teased Joseph for committing fornication. These events led to the inclusion of the Prophet Joseph into prison for libel expressed by these women. However, the Prophet Joseph remain patient in facing this ordeal.
There are still many other stories of the Prophet Joseph recounted in this book. Among is that he become the King’s dream interpreter until he became a statesman. Izzur Robbani try to review the essence of the wisdom of life stories of the Prophet Joseph with reference to the verses of the Koran as the basic descriptors. This book takes the reader to be able to examine in further virtues contained in each of the experience of the Prophet Joseph. The author also tried to link the value of the lessons in this book with political issues and humanitarian bloom now. Unfortunately, the discussion is too wordy and not short, solid, and clear so that the focus of discussion can not be understood as a whole (v)

Pada suatu ketika Nabi Yusuf As kecil mendapatkan mimpi dimana ada 11 bulan, 11 matahari dan 11 bintang bersujud padanya. Ia lalu menceritakan mimpi itu pada ayahnya, Nabi Yakub As yang kemudian mengartikan mimpi itu sebagai pertanda bahwa Nabi Yusuf As akan menjadi orang besar di kemudian hari. Nabi Yakub As juga melarang Nabi Yusuf As untuk menceritakan perihal mimpinya kepada saudara-saudaranya karena khawatir akan timbul makar untuk membinasakan Nabi Yusuf As.
Hikmah yang dapat diambil dari sepenggal kisah Nabi Yusuf As tersebut adalah menentukan sikap dengan bijaksana. Nabi Yusuf As memilih menceritakan perihal mimpinya kepada orang yang tepat, yaitu ayahnya dan tidak menceritakan mimpi itu kepada saudara-saudaranya untuk menghindari timbulnya prasangka buruk dari orang-orang yang mendengki.
Selain kisah di atas, Izzur juga menguraikan beberapa kisah Nabi Yusuf As lainnya semasa hidup yang didasarkan pada ayat-ayat Al-Quran di Surat Yusuf. Diantaranya adalah kisah Nabi Yusuf As yang dimasukkan ke dalam sumur oleh saudara-saudaranya agar dianggap mati terbunuh, sampai kisah diangkatnya Nabi Yusuf As sebagai tabir mimpi raja.
Izzur Robbani mencoba mengulas intisari hikmah dari kisah-kisah hidup Nabi Yusuf As dengan gaya bahasa yang mudah dicerna. Buku ini membawa pembaca untuk dapat menelaah secara lebih jauh nilai-nilai kebajikan yang terkandung dalam tiap kisah yang dialami Nabi Yusuf As.
